In our opinion, Finland has always been a step ahead. This also reflects in the way Finns talk about work and life being in balance. The proof is in the pudding: this spring, for the fifth year in a row, Finland was named the world’s happiest country by the UN. 

And they put their money where their mouth is! The social support system that has been built over several years in Finland from pioneering mandatory vacations to the forward-leaning thinking around maternity and paternity leave, not to mention the world-famous baby boxes that the government provides to all new parents. 

All of this tells us at Huma that our thinking and approach has great synergies with people and businesses in Finland. At Huma we have always said that you are likely to spend one-third of your life at work, better make sure you spend it well. At the bottom of this lies a belief that work can be fulfilling and rewarding, but also that work “only” makes up one-third of your life.
